Marvin V. Culpepper, Jr., “Mud Duck,” 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 4, 2016. Born in Chesapeake, VA, he was the son of the late Marvin V. Culpepper, Sr., and Ruby C. Trent. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Culpepper.
He was a lifelong Creeker who graduated from Deep Creek High School, was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, and was often referred to as Santa both in appearance and generosity to those in need.
Left to cherish his memory: his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Culpepper; daughters, Lisa Coleman and husband Joey, Heather Anne and Meghan Shane; beloved grandson, Ethan Wyatt Coleman; sister, Gayle Hughes and husband Billy; an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his beloved cats, Indy and Hissy, all of whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Hwy. Chapel, on Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 1:15 to 2 p.m. The memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Culpepper Family Cemetery on Old Mill Rd., Chesapeake. Flowers are welcome.
