Portsmouth – Ron, beloved husband, father, “Pop-Pop,” and friend, passed unexpectedly but peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2016, in his home at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his mother, LaNelle S. Hardy, his father Harry L. Hardy, Sr., and his brother Harry L. Hardy, Jr.

He will be dearly missed by his family: devoted wife and best friend,

Patti Pawl Hardy; daughter, Jodi H. Geary (Robert); step-daughter, Lauren S. Rowland (Adrian); step-son, Brett Staples (Tracy); granddaughters Sydney Geary, Casey Geary, Avril Rowland, Maia Rowland, Eowyn Rowland, and Melanie Staples; and grandson, William Staples; sisters-in-law Lannie Finan and Louise Joyce. He is further survived by a number of very dear aunts and uncles, cousins, very special nieces and nephews Sabrina, Yvette, Mary Katherine and Chris, great nieces and nephews, and friends. He had a special tickling relationship with great nieces Gabriella and Adrianna that will be very much missed.

Ron will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his wonderful sense of humor, his love of God and his church family, along with his passion for anything related to The Green Bay Packers, hunting, fishing, and gunsmithing. His kindness and gentle soul was a blessing to all who had the privilege of loving him, and he will be forever remembered and sorely missed.

Viewing will be from 1 3 pm on Sunday, Feb. 7, at Snellings Funeral Home on George Washington Highway. Funeral Service will be held at Temple Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA on Monday, Feb. 8, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ron’s memory to the Dooley Family Fund at any Towne Bank branch, or giving to the Mission Fund at Temple Baptist Church.
