Norfolk – Thomas Victor “Smitty” Smith who fought the good fight and kept the faith went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2016.
Born in Portsmouth, VA, to the late Carroll and Margaret Smith he was also preceded in death by a brother, Carroll “Buddy” Smith.
Smitty, age 65, was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His laughter, boldness, and big heart touched the lives of many. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Alabama football fan.
Smitty is survived by his wife, Nancy Smith; son, Anthony Gower, Jr. (Shannon) of Virginia Beach and daughter, Jessica McKenzie (Jimmie) of Virginia Beach. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Tony Ray, Isabella, Audrey, River and Amelia; a sister, Elaine Hughes (James) of Chesapeake and sister-in-law, Bernice Smith of Newport News, VA and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Bayside Presbyterian Church by Rev. Clayton Rascoe. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2901 E.
